Christopher Stace

Christopher Stace was born in 1942 and read Classics at Cambridge, then taught at Christ’s Hospital and Bradfield College.  He has translated a variety of classical authors: Euripides for the BBC, Plautus for Cambridge University press, and Sophocles for performances at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. His publications include Florence, City of the Lily, a celebration of his love of Italy, a translation of Jacobus de Voragines’s The Golden Legend (Penguin 1998) and most recently a translation of Thomas of Celano’s First Life of Saint Francis of Assisi.
